Who were the victims?
The victims were Rajitha (30), Ayan (7), Asra Jabeen (5) and Osman Ahmed (11 months) of Rudraram village in Vemulawada Mandal. Rajitha had married Mohammed Ali, a native of Karimnagar, about 10 years ago in a love marriage. The couple had three children and lived in Karimnagar.
What was the motive behind the tragedy?
According to the police, Rajitha had lodged a harassment case against her husband a few months ago and they were living together after counselling. However, they continued to have frequent quarrels over domestic issues. On June 28, Rajitha left her home with her children without informing her husband and went to her parents' house in Rudraram. She also left behind a suicide note saying that she was ending her life due to harassment by her husband.
On June 30, Rajitha took her children to the Mid Manair Reservoir and jumped into the water. The police suspect that she might have drugged her children before taking the extreme step. The bodies were found floating in the reservoir on July 1 by some locals who alerted the police.
How did the police investigate the case?
The police recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. They also registered a case of suicide and harassment against Mohammed Ali and his family members based on Rajitha's suicide note and her parents' complaint. The police are interrogating Ali and his relatives to ascertain the exact cause of the tragedy.
What was the public reaction to the incident?
The incident has shocked and saddened the people of Telangana, especially those living in Rajanna Sircilla district. Many people expressed their condolences to the bereaved family and demanded strict action against the accused. Some people also questioned the role of the police and the counsellors who failed to prevent the tragedy despite knowing about Rajitha's harassment case.
The incident has also highlighted the need for more awareness and support for women facing domestic violence and mental stress. Many activists and NGOs have urged the government and the society to take measures to protect women's rights and dignity and to provide them with counselling and legal aid.
Conclusion
The mysterious murder of Telangana's Rajanna Sircilla and three kids is a tragic example of how domestic violence can lead to fatal consequences. The case has exposed the vulnerability of women and children in abusive relationships and the lack of adequate intervention by the authorities. The case also calls for more empathy and compassion from the society towards women who are suffering in silence and seeking help.
